Orienteering

There is a permanent orienteering course based at the Colchester campus, designed by Essex Stragglers (SOS), the orienteering club for North East Essex. Orienteering involves navigating round a course of "controls", marked as red circles on a specially drawn map. A compass is useful but not essential. At the locations marked by the circle you will find a distinctive post identified by a control code (a single letter).

To use the course just pick up a map from the Sports Centre. Orienteering Map without controls marked.

Due to building work taking place at the Colchester campus, the orienteering course will undergo a certain amount of re-structuring as necessary. While this is taking place, the course will be unavailable to book, so please check at the Sports Centre when booking. Maps will be updated at the appropriate time.
