Staff success in cricket final
|
The University staff cricket team triumphed in the
Colchester Evening League Champions Trophy final against The Firm.
Special mention must go to the man of the match Colin Steel for his quick
fire 41 at the end of the innings and to David Andrews who chipped in with
16 in his partnership of 50 with Colin. In the last 6 overs the score
accelerated from 54 for 4 to 117 for 5 which gave the bowlers a decent
target to aim at especially as it looked unlikely that we were going to
make 3 figures at one stage.
All the bowlers figures were very impressive with Rob
Croxson picking up 3 for 18, Adam 2 for 26, and Dar 2 for 25. The
champagne moment must belong to Brijesh who bowled a delightful delivery
to remove their most dangerous batsmen, Gibbs, who looked set to unleash
an onslaught. |
Dar cracking another four to the boundary
during the final. |

The inswinging yorker that removed the bails was described
by the umpire as "the best ball that he's seen bowled all season." Paul
Perrin must also be congratulated for the 2 difficult catches he managed
to cling on to.
