Evolve is now open!

The new £1.4 million gym and fitness room at Colchester Campus – called Evolve – is now open! The gym is light, air conditioned and very spacious, offering 130 state-of-the-art fitness stations, including running machines with video, USB ports and iPod features, resistance and weights equipment and step and rowing machines. University students, staff, and members of the public can now join Evolve.

The new extension also offers a brand new double-height dance studio, two further fitness rooms for classes, and administration offices for Sports Centre staff on the first floor. The building has been sensitively designed and constructed to maximise natural daylight in all areas and provide increased ventilation to the fitness room - making it a great environment for exercise.

Using Evolve

There is no need to book in advance to use the facility.

In order to use these facilities for the first time it is necessary to enrol onto an induction course. This will last about an hour, and will take you through how to use the machinery correctly and safely. You can sign up for an induction at the Sports Centre Reception.

Once this has been completed you will be issued with a membership card which you must produce to gain entry.

To join Evolve you can sign up for our new sports membership scheme, Passport to Sport which offers tiers of usage suited to your fitness needs, with on or off-peak options, representing fantastic value.

All you need is a spare hour!
