The Sports Centre organises a skiing trip each year in the early part of January. This year's trip is to:
Le Corbier, France, 6th January to 13th January 2008.

The Resort

Designed in the 1960s by the famous modernist architect Le Corbusier. The lift pass includes La Toussuire, St Sorlin d'Arves and St Colomban, and is one of the biggest ski areas in the world at a whopping 310kms! The village is at 1550m, the top station is at 2600m. The snow record is excellent and there are plenty of snow cannons. Le Corbier has exceptional learning slopes and early intermediates have plenty of easy blues on good snow. Keen intermediates can enjoy long runs and advanced skiers revel in the huge mileage. This is a rapidly-developing ski area with lifts added every year. Corbier has recently added a fast 6 man chair direct from the foot of the resort right to the top, where there is a nursery area in wonderful sow and the link to St Sorlin.

Note: The number of twin bedded rooms is limited. These rooms will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Discounts will be available for people who do not wish to take part in scheduled lessons, who have their own insurance or ski equipment.

Travel Details

A coach is provided for transfer to/from the University to Stansted airport. We will be flying to Turin and the transfer time to our hotel is approximately 2 hours.

Accommodation

The Hotel Le Mont Corbier is a modern building with excellent facilities. The hotel has doorstep skiing. Officially a 2* (but nearer a 3*) the decor is high quality throughout with lots of traditional beams, panels and carved wooden ornaments. All bedrooms have balcony, bathroom (bath with shower, wash basin, hairdryer) and separate WC. The restaurant has fantastic views and there is a good bar (with smoking/non-smoking areas) which was refurbished last season and made triple the size!
