2006 Ski Holiday, Serre Chevalier, France

The Sports Centre organises a skiing trip each year in the early part of January. This year's trip is to:
Serre Chevalier, France, 8th January to 15th January 2006.

Closing date for deposits Friday 11 November 2005

The Resort

Serre Chevalier is the one of the biggest ski regions in France. It has over 250kms of piste and a fantastic lift system covering 4 areas. The snow record is excellent. Most slopes face North so it can be pretty cold but as you go higher, you are virtually guaranteed great snow and brilliant sunshine. Every variety of skier has an abundance of choice - wide motorways, entertaining reds winding through the forest, and fast schusses. Beginners have good village skiing and easy bubble lifts to altitude for the best snow. Advanced skiers have loads of challenge; long blacks, savage mogul fields, and virtually unlimited off-piste through hidden valleys and glades. The lift pass also includes 1 free day in Alpe d’huez, Les Deux Alpes or Montgenvre

Accommodation

Hotel Grand Aigle is officially a 2 star but it does have more public space and facilities than is usual for this standard. There's a large open area just outside and a sun terrace. The entrance steps take you up to reception and into a long, south-facing lounge, which gets plenty of light and sun. The large, attractive restaurant is bright and airy and also gets the sun. One floor down is a huge public space, then a lounge, and a good, big bar with a small dance floor adjacent. The bedrooms are simple and all have private facilities. The position is superb and offers door-step skiing.

Activities available in resort

Quite lively, plenty of character, very friendly, many bars. Night time skidoo, torchlight descents, ice driving, skating swimming pool, parapenting, church, doctor, pharmacy and hospital. 38 bars or restaurants, shops: 2 night clubs, cinema games bar, hang gliding, ice climbing , sleigh rides, snow mobiling
