Fitness Courses
To complement our aerobics programme, the Sports Centre runs a number of
fitness courses throughout the year. Each course is in the region of 4-8weeks in
duration and will be advertised at the Sports Centre & on the website when
available.
Places are limited and courses fill up quickly - visit Sports Centre
Reception or telephone Reception to book your place.
Fitness Courses for the Spring Term
Boot Camp - starting week commencing 23
January 2012
Tuesdays 5-6pm and Wednesdays 1-2pm - meet at the Sports Centre
Reception
8 week highly motivated, energetic and fun! Want to improve your
overall fitness and body shape? Boot Camp will make you faster, stronger, leaner
and functionally fitter for everyday life and as an athlete.
Prices (for 8 week course)
- Gold members : £24.00
- Silver members : £36.00
- Bronze members : £43.04
- Non-members : £48.00*

Manager for further details on Bootcamp.
Please note Passport to Sport membership is required to qualify for
the rates given.
*Boot Camp is available to non-members, but other courses are not.
6 Week Courses
Starting from Monday 6th February, the Sports Centre will be running 6 week
courses for Fitball, Ballroom Blitz, Tai Chi, Piloga, Yoga & Pilates. These are:
*FREE to Gold & Silver Passport to Sport members
*£39 per 6 week course for Bronze members & non-members
*Places are limited & booking is essential - Gold members can book on
up to 14 days in advance of the course starting, Silver 10 days, Bronze 7 days,
and non-members 3 days
*Please ensure you can make all 6 weeks, registers will be taken at each
session
Fitball - Starting Monday 6th February 2012 for 6 weeks -
BOOK NOW!!6.05-6.55pm in Studio 3 with Tracy
An introduction to the principles of core stability & stability ball
exercises; a whole body work out that will tone & strengthen those key core
muscles.
Ballroom Blitz - Starting Wednesday 8th February
2012 for 6 weeks - NEW THIS TERM!
10am-11am in Studio 3 with Laura
(Book from Wed 25 January for Gold members, from Sun 29 January for Silver
members)
Using the steps from all of the ballroom dances, including cha cha,
samba, rumba, jive & even the waltz. Using the traditional routines in an
aerobic workout to increase your aerobic fitness & physical conditioning
Tai Chi
- Starting Thursday 9th February 2012 for 6 weeks
1.05-1.55pm in Studio 1 with Dave
(Book from Thurs 26 January for Gold members, from Mon 30 January for Silver
members)
An
introduction into Chi Kung (a standing meditation), a set of basic breathing and
relaxation exercises and a short Tai Chi form
Yoga -
Starting Thursday 9th February 2012 for 6 weeks
3.30-4.55pm in Studio 3 with Rod
(Book from Thurs 26 January for Gold members, from Mon 30 January for Silver
members)
An introduction
to classic yoga for physical and mental well-being. The sessions will practice
yoga postures mindfully, building strength & flexibility, and develop breathing
exercises and relaxation/meditation techniques to improve concentration and
clarity of mind.
Piloga -
Starting Thursday 9th February 2012 for 6 weeks
5.05-5.55pm in Studio 1 with Sue
(Book from Thurs 26 January for
Gold members, from Mon 30 January for Silver members)
Combines Pilates
& Yoga exercises to develop core strength, tone & flexibility as well as promote
focus & relaxation. Suitable for all levels.
Pilates
- Starting Thursday 9th February 2012 for 6 weeks
7.05-7.55pm in Studio 3 with Sue
(Book from Thurs 26 January for Gold members, from Mon 30 January for Silver
members)
A combination of
standing & floor based exercises that aim to improve posture, develop mobility,
tone & flexibility, and strengthen core muscles. Also an excellent way to help
relieve stress & tension.
