Students' Union Sports Clubs

The Sports Centre provides training facilities for the majority of Sports Federation clubs.  For more information on all the clubs that are available to join, take a look at the Students' Union Sports Federation website.  All clubs welcome new members, whether you're a student, member of staff or member of the public.

CLUB BOOKINGS REQUESTS for staff and student clubs:

An application form is available on which to indicate your club training preference times for the next academic year, towards the end of the spring term.  For any requests to be considered, they must be fully completed and submitted along with a completed risk assessment which has been signed by a Sports Federation Official (Sports Federation clubs only).  Clubs who have not submitted requests by the end of the summer term will not be allocated any training space for the next academic year.

Club grant scheme

The Essex Sport Club Grant Scheme returns this term, following successful bids from Archery, Fencing and Trampolining in 2010. The University are looking to award a further two grants up to the value of £1,000 each to support the growth of sporting clubs, to safeguard the existence of minority sports and to encourage participation in sport.

To apply, please read the supplementary information and fill out the application form and return to David Williams, Director of Sport by the deadline.

Staff and External Clubs

The Sports Centre hosts a number of staff-run and external clubs - all of which welcome new members at any time.
