Governance Office
The Governance Office comprises of two teams with
responsibility for governance and records management.
Governance
The Governance team looks after the University’s corporate governance,
including:
- University Council, the executive
governing body with overall responsibility for the management
and proper conduct of University business based on the
objectives defined by the University Charter and Statutes;
- University Court, a formal body with a
range of functions, including encouraging people in the local
region to have an active interest in the University, be formally
associated with it and be given an opportunity to comment on
University affairs; and
- University Steering Group, chaired
by the Vice-Chancellor, which meets regularly during term time
to agree and execute the operational strategy, and to prepare
and recommend to Council the University's budget and resource
allocation.
University Calendar
The Governance team also produces and maintains the
University Calendar, which incorporates University governance, regulations,
procedures, codes of practice, fees and other relevant information.
For matters relating to academic governance, please contact the
Academic
Registrar's office.
Records Management
The Records Management website
provides advice to the University on organising, storing, managing and disposing
of records. A wide range of policies and guidance documents are available to
ensure the records we keep are in compliance with the Data Protection Act (DPA)
and other statutory provisions like the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and
Environmental Information Regulations (EIR). The website also outlines the
procedures for exercising your rights under these statutory instruments (for
example, how to make a request for information under the FOIA).
