Introduction

The Strategic Planning and Change Section (SPCS) supports the University in the development, implementation and monitoring of the University’s Strategic Plan and its supporting strategies. Headed by the Director of Strategic Planning and Change, SPCS contains three teams:

Planning

The Planning Office is responsible for:

  • supporting the University’s annual strategic planning process;
  • providing management information to support strategic planning, performance monitoring/management and strategic projects; and
  • managing the University’s returns to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

Governance

The Governance Office is responsible for:

  • supporting the University’s Council;
  • supporting the University Steering Group; and
  • managing the University’s approach to data protection and freedom of information.

Change

The Change team has responsibility for:

  • supporting the development of the University’s Strategic Plan and supporting strategies, and ensuring effective co-ordination across these strategies;
  • for undertaking and supporting strategic projects as part of the implementation of the Strategic Plan and its supporting strategies; and
  • leading and developing capacity for the effective management of University change projects and business process reviews.

We play a central role in the University's planning processes, developing the Strategic, Faculty and Professional Services plans. We also analyse and report on student numbers, produce departmental intake targets and conduct departmental reviews.
