Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey 2010
The University of Essex took part in the Higher Education Academy’s
Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) in 2010, which is a national survey
designed to find out what postgraduate students think of the quality of
teaching, assessment, feedback and other aspects of their study.
The Department of Sociology at Essex had a total response rate of 58%, and
received very strong positive satisfaction scores for the percentage of
respondents who felt that their programme had either met or exceeded their
expectations on key areas of the PTES. They included the following satisfaction
rates:
- 100% of respondents felt that their programme had either met
or exceeded their expectations for the quality of teaching and
learning;
- 94.7% of respondents felt that their programme had either
met or exceeded their expectations for assessment and feedback;
- 100% of respondents felt that their programme had either met
or exceeded their expectations for organisation and management;
- 94.7% of respondents felt that their programme had either
met or exceeded their expectations for learning resources;
- 94.7% of respondents felt that their programme had either
met or exceeded their expectations for skills and development;
- 89.5% of respondents felt that their programme had either
met or exceeded their expectations for career and professional
development;
- 100% of respondents felt that their programme had either met
or exceeded their expectations for overall satisfaction with the
course chosen.
