Our research active staff have international reputations for the high
quality of their work, meaning you are taught, supported and supervised by
world leaders in their fields.
Just some of our renowned academic staff with international reputations
include:
- Professor Huosheng Hu, School of Computer Science and Electronic
Engineering, who leads the research team developing ground-breaking robotic
fish that will analyse and monitor pollution in a port;
- Professor Anthony King, Department of Government, who is one of
the UK’s foremost commentators on British politics and was recently elected
a Fellow of the British Academy in recognition of his contribution to
humanities and social sciences;
- Professor Sir Nigel Rodley, Human Rights Centre, who was invited
to the Advisory Group for Human Rights established by Foreign Secretary,
William Hague;
- Professor Jules Pretty OBE, Department of Biological Sciences,
who regularly advises the Government on social and environmental issues and
is lead author of new research in how to feed an expected population of nine
billion by 2050; and
- Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, Professor of Poetry in the
Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies, who won the Poetry Book
Society’s TS Eliot Prize for his latest work White Egrets.
