Identifying Funding Sources
The University of Essex is home to researchers across an impressively diverse range of subjects; this diversity is reflected in the wide range of funding options available to you.
This section brings together information and links to sources of external funding:
Each funder has different research funding priorities, policies and schemes. It is important to identify opportunities that closely match your requirements, and Research and Business Partnerships Managers can assist you with this. You can help by:
- contacting the Research and Building Partnerships Manager for your Faculty at an early stage
- sending a short outline of your research interests or plans and / or arranging a meeting with your Research and Building Partnerships Manager to discuss your plans
- signing up for funding alerts that are of particular interest to you using:
- Research Professional - an online funding opportunities database covering all types of research and updated daily
- http://www.rdinfo.org.uk – covers all health-related funding opportunities
- let your Research and Building Partnerships Manager know about the outcome of your application, especially if you are unsuccessful, as he or she might be able to help you find alternative sources of funding.
Once you have identified an appropriate funding scheme, you may find information on costing a proposal useful.
Training on locating and applying for funding is delivered by the REO and Learning and Development.
