Your role as Secretary
The Secretary to the
periodic review is appointed by the Assistant Registrar (Quality).
Your role as Secretary
will be to:

Stage 1 - the Secretary to the periodic review and
Assistant Registrar (Quality) meet with the Head of Department or nominee and
the Departmental Administrator to discuss departmental mechanisms for quality
assurance and enhancement and implementation of University policy in relation
to quality assurance. The Secretary and Assistant Registrar (Quality) complete
the stage 1
checklist and submit this, with any recommendations,
to the Chair of the periodic review committee. The report from Stage 1 of the
periodic review is included in the documentation for Stage 2 of the process

Liaise with the Head of
Department/Director regarding the preparation of documents for the review
(where required)

Provide support to the
Chair

Stage 2 – the Secretary
to the periodic review sends a copy of the draft recommendations to the
department within 48 hours and prepares the initial draft report on behalf of (and in
consultation with) the Chair, and circulates the draft to review committee and
the Head of Department/Director for comment. The Secretary will make any
necessary modifications to the report, which will be subject to the Chair’s
approval within 3 weeks of the completion date of the review

Within 6 weeks of the
review the final
version of the report, once agreed, will be submitted to the Secretary of the
relevant Faculty for submission to the Board and final approval. A final
copy should be sent to the Academic Standards and Partnerships for the permanent record.
All review Secretaries
will receive training in their role from the Academic Standards and Partnerships
Office.
