Periodic Review

Periodic Review is a University level procedure designed to reapprove academic courses on the basis of an evaluation of the previous five years of their operation.  The procedure for Periodic Review applies to both taught and research provision of the University of Essex, except for those programmes at Writtle College, for  which an analogous procedure is set out in the College's Memorandum of Agreement with the University.

The procedure for Periodic Review consists of two stages.  Stage 1 (covering QA procedures for all departmental provision) and Stage 2 (concerned with re-validating provision). 

Courses will normally be subject to Periodic Review once every five years (see the review schedule).
