Documentation

 

PERIODIC REVIEW DOCUMENTATION: Postgraduate Reviews

The department should provide documentation electronically (via email, Zendto, dropbox or on a data stick) to the Academic Standards and Partnerships Office (ASPO) no later than 4 weeks before the Periodic Review event. 

ASPO will copy and distribute the documentation to panel members.

1.  Reflective document prepared by Head of Department (or nominee). This should highlight major developments since the last Periodic Review/during the last five years.

The reflective document should be produced in line with the University proforma for Postgraduate reviews which outlines the key areas to be covered in the document.

2.   Supporting documentation: Taught postgraduate provision

a.  Annual Monitoring Reports

The last 3 years Annual Monitoring Reports (where available)
NB The panel may request earlier copies of Annual Monitoring Reports to assist their investigations

b. A Programme Specification for each of the courses under review including module map (where not already provided as part of the Annual Monitoring Reports)

c. Last internal review report (last periodic review report) accompanied by a summary by Department of follow-up action taken (where this is not included within Annual Monitoring reports or as part of the reflective document).

d. Most recent External Examiners Reports including departmental responses and any relevant Committee minutes

Only where this is not included within the Annual Monitoring Report.

e.  Current relevant QAA benchmark statement(s) and/or other relevant external benchmarking statement

f.  Professional Statutory Body Reports and departmental response

g.   Statistics (as provided by the University Dashboard)  

3.    Supporting documentation: Research Postgraduate provision

a.  The most recent Research Degree Programme Review

b. A Programme Specification for each of the courses under review including module map (where appropriate)

c.  Professional/Statutory Body Reports or Research Council reports and departmental response

d.  Statistics (as provided by the University Dashboard)

To include a copy of the Department’s Research Degree Qualification Rates and data on research students by degree and year of study.

e. Supervisory Body Reports and Research Student Progress Committee Reports

A copy of the supervisory board report form and the RSPC form the Department uses and two anonymised completed forms of each type

f. Criteria for confirmation of PhD status

g.  Student Feedback

Please provide copies of the departmental PRES results and the departmental SSLC minutes and action plans for the past year.

h.  Research Training

Append any statement on research training provision that has been provided to the research councils. Provide a copy of the Training Needs Analysis forms the Department uses and at least 2 anonymised completed forms.

 4.  The Student Handbook(s) applicable to the research degrees under review

5.   Syllabus information as appropriate
