PSBs

 

Professional and Statutory Bodies (PSBs)

The following academic units in the University have one or more degree schemes subject to PSB accreditation:

  • Essex Business School:

    Each of the professional accounting bodies will consider granting some exemptions from their own examinations

  • Biological Science:     

                    Institute of Biomedical Sciences and the Health Professions Council   
                (For the BSc in Biomedical Science)

  • E15:

                    National Council for Drama Training

  • Psychology:

                    British Psychological Society

  • CSEE:

                   British Computer Society

                   Institution of Engineering and Teachnology

  • Law:

    Law Society/Bar Council

  • School of Health and Human Sciences:

    British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP )

    British Psychological Society (BPS)

    College of Occupational Therapists (COT)

    Chartered Society for Physiotherapy (CSP)

    General Dental Council (GDC)

    Health Professions Council (HPC)

    Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC)

    Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy

    Royal Pharmaceutical Society of GB

Arrangements for visits by PSBs are managed by the relevant departments, except for NHS funded provision which is subject to review by the QAA and is managed by the Academic Standards and Partnerships Office.

Departments are required to send copies of key correspondence concerning accreditation visits and information about forthcoming accreditation schedules to the Academic Standards and Partnerships Office for reporting to the relevant School Board.

Departments follow up recommendations made in PSB accreditation processes through the internal monitoring and review procedures of Annual Monitoring and Periodic Review.
