“Party identification” and “Political Identity” means different things to different people. Since the concept of party identification was first employed to describe the “enduring attachment that a voter feels towards a particular political party” (Sanders, 2002) it has been an idiom of permanent controversy.
Using Terror Management Theory (Greenberg, Pyszczynski and Solomon, 1986) I look at the way in which reminders of mortality mediate changes in individual political party preferences and adherences to politicians.
My research interests include Political Psychology, Political Identity and Political Socialisation.

I am in the process of recruiting participants for a study in Social Psychology. The task, assessing different social attitudes, lasts about 40 minutes to an hour after which you will fully debrief. For your participation you will receive £4. There are various time slots available to take part in this experiment; additionally, you can nominate a time that is convenient to you. If you are interested in participating in this experiment please email me at: carive@essex.ac.uk to agree on a convenient time for both.
Please note that if you have participated in my last experiment you won't be able to participate in this new one. Thank you in advance for you interest and contribution.
