BIOGRAPHY
Catherine completed a BSc in Psychology at University College London. This was followed by a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at the UCL Institute of Neurology and post-doctoral research at the UCL Institute of Child Health and the Centre for Research in Autism and Education, Institute of Education. She joined the Department of Psychology, University of Essex as a lecturer in April 2011.
RESEARCH OVERVIEW
My research falls into two broad categories. First, I have been exploring the cognitive phenotype of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), with a particular interest in how basic perceptual processing mechanisms impact on higher-order cognition and behaviour. Second, I pursue an interest in temporal processing, including investigation of the neural mechanisms associated with motor and perceptual timing and exploration of how timing behaviour manifests in individuals with neurological (Parkinson’s disease) and developmental (ASD) disorders.
