Key Terms i
The following terms are often used in the context of plagiarism and authorship:
- Academic misconduct
Abuse of academic conventions unfairly to one's own advantage. The term includes examination cheating, plagiarism and collusion.
- Acknowledgement
Recognition that work has been the product of the work of another identified person.
- Bibliography
Usually a list of material that provides further information on the present work. See also 'reference list' below.
- Cheating
Taking advantage of or manipulating a situation unfairly for one's own gain (as academic misconduct).
