BiographyDavid McNeill received his BA from St. John's College in Annapolis MD, and his PhD from the University of Chicago's Committee on Social Thought. He was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Grinnell College, and taught previously at the University of Chicago, St. Mary's College and Hofstra University.

  • Aristotle's account of the intellectual virtues,
  • Nietzsche on the relation between morality and temporality
  • Truth and belief in ancient philosophy.
Research interests
  • Ancient philosophy (Plato, Aristotle)
  • German philosophy of 19th and 20th centuries (Nietzsche, Hegel, Heidegger)
  • Philosophical psychology, and the relation between ethics and metaphysics
