25 May 2012: Essex Autonomy Project's Viv Ashley contributes to Adult Care Blog
Viv Ashely has contributed a guest post on Community Care's Adult Care Blog. 'Support, not coercion, is the route to moral responsibility' highlights the potential problems caused by the increasing influence of 'welfare condionality' upon social welfare policy.
Viv is a Post-Graduate Research Assistant for the Essex Autonomy Project. Her doctoral research explores a particular tension inherent within the concept of autonomy, that which exists between the idea of non-intervention, freedom to choose and responsibility, on the one hand, and socioeconomic rights and effective choice, on the other. As well as holding BA and MA degrees from the University of Essex, Viv has extensive experience of working in the social welfare sector.
Community Care is an online forum providing news and information for anyone involved in social care.
