University Campus Suffolk

University of East Anglia and
the University of Essex. The joint venture is managed by a company limited by guarantee - University Campus Suffolk Ltd – and the
University of Essex and University of East Anglia are each represented on the Company Board.
UCS was created in August 2007 in order to establish a university campus in Suffolk, one of the few counties in England without a university of its own, and to widen access to higher
education in a region where participation rates in HE have been lower than the national average.
The UCS network encompasses a main campus in the Suffolk county town of Ipswich, with smaller regional campuses linked to FE Colleges, together forming the UCS Learning Network.
Successful UCS students receive a joint degree awarded by the University of Essex and the University of East Anglia. Academic standards and quality assurance arrangements at UCS are overseen
