Postgraduate open evenings

Colchester open evening

Our Colchester open evening will give you the opportunity to meet with our departments and chat informally to staff and students and ask any questions you have. You will be able to speak to our Graduate Admissions team and find out more about postgraduate life and study at Essex from our current students.

Current students at our Southend Campus wishing to attend the postgraduate open evening at Colchester should contact the ground floor reception team at The Gateway Building on 01702 328200 or book a place by emailing recsc@essex.ac.uk. Transport can be arranged for Southend students - just let us know if you need this when you book your place.

Do I have to book to attend a Colchester open evening?

It is a good idea to book to attend an open evening to make sure you receive all information in advance but you are welcome to attend even if you have not booked in advance.

Will I receive confirmation of my booking?

We will send you a confirmation email which contains a barcode. Please bring this with you on the day so that we can scan it and check you in quickly.

Will I receive a programme before the open evening?

The programme will be emailed to you, usually a few weeks in advance, and it will also be made available online. You will be able to collect a printed version on the evening.

Can I bring guests with me when I visit?

Yes, they are more than welcome and there is no need to let us know of any changes to your guest numbers.

Do I need to inform you of any changes to my booking?

Only if your contact details change, such as your email address.

What if I cannot attend an open evening?

We can organise a campus tour for you on a date that is convenient. If you want to arrange a campus tour at Colchester, please email scl@essex.ac.uk.

What time should I arrive?

Check in opens at 4pm, the first welcome talk is at 4.15pm and the evening finishes at 7pm.

Can I be shown around the campus and view student accommodation?

We run both campus and accommodation tours throughout the evening and there is no need to book onto these. As a guide, the campus and accommodation tour lasts around 45 minutes each.

Where is the event?

Our postgraduate open evening takes place in the Tony Rich Teaching Centre at our Colchester Campus.

London open evening

Our London open evening will give you the opportunity to find out what is like to be a member of our thriving postgraduate community. At this event you will be able to find out more about the benefits of further study and the options available. We will have several academics available for you to speak to on the evening as well as members of our Student Recruitment Team to answer any questions.

Our London open evening will be held at the Bishopsgate Institute in London. The Institute is located just two minutes' walk away from Liverpool Street station and Spitalfields Market.

Our programme for the evening is:

6.30pm Arrival
7.00pm Welcome talk
7.30pm Keynote lecture
8.00pm Networking and refreshments
9.00pm Close
