Colchester Campus postgraduate open evenings

Dates and booking

  • Wednesday 5 November 2014, 4pm to 7pm.

Book your place at our next postgraduate open evening.

Programme and further information

Current students at our Southend Campus wishing to attend the postgraduate open evening should contact the ground floor reception team at The Gateway Building on 01702 328200 or book a place by emailing recsc@essex.ac.uk. Transport can be arranged for Southend students - just let us know if you need this when you book your place.

So, you're thinking about furthering your knowledge and understanding with a taught postgraduate course or research programme. You want to work with world leaders in their field and study a subject you enjoy, while improving your CV and widening your career options.

We hold postgraduate evenings in March and November.

At one of our postgraduate open evenings, you will have the opportunity to:

  • chat informally to staff and students and ask any questions you have;
  • meet our Graduate Admissions team;
  • go on tours of our campus and accommodation led by current students;
  • find out more about postgraduate life and study at Essex; and
  • receive further information in advance of funding deadlines in January or February.

The event runs from 4pm to 7pm in The Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall at our Colchester Campus.

Check out our open evening video to give you more of an idea of what to expect.

Do I have to book to attend an open evening?

We would advise this to ensure you receive all information in advance of the day but you are welcome to attend even if you have not booked in advance.

Will I receive confirmation of my booking?

We will send you a confirmation email which will contain a barcode. Please bring this with you on the day so that we can scan it and check you in quickly.

Will I receive a programme before the open evening?

The programme will be emailed to you, usually a few weeks in advance, and it will also be made available online

Can I bring guests with me when I visit?

Yes they are more than welcome and there is no need to let us know of any changes to your guest numbers.

Do I need to inform you of any changes to my booking?

Only if your contact details change, such as your email address.

What if I cannot attend an open evening?

We can organise a campus tour for you on a date that is convenient. If you want to arrange a campus tour at Colchester, please email scl@essex.ac.uk.

If you would like an informal discussion about postgraduate study, then please contact your relevant school or department directly.

Do I need to bring anything on the day?

Just the email confirmation, but you might want to bring a list of any questions with you to ensure that you make the most of your day with us and find out all you need to know.

What time should I arrive?

Check in opens at 4pm, the first welcome talk is at 4.15pm and the evening finishes at 7pm.

Can I be shown around the campus and view student accommodation?

We run both campus and accommodation tours throughout the evening and there is no need to book onto these. If you require an adapted tour and want to view an adapted room this can be arranged for you. As a guide, the campus and accommodation tours last around 45 minutes each.

Where is the event?

Our postgraduate open evening takes place in The Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall.

If you need any further information or want to check something, feel free to contact us.
