Post-budget breakfast event offers expert insight
The potential economic and political impact of the Chancellor’s economic plans will be analysed at a special Post-Budget Breakfast event on Friday 23 March.
The free event is designed to help companies and organisations in the region to understand what the implications of the latest budget are likely to be for business, jobs and individuals, as well as for the UK economy in general.
Head of the Department of Economics Professor Eric Smith will provide an introduction and will be followed by two of the University’s leading academics reflecting on the budget due to be announced on Wednesday 21 March.
Professor Mike Brewer of the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) will provide a unique perspective which will draw on his influential research on welfare systems, labour market programmes and the tax system and how they affect decisions made by households
Professor Paul Whiteley from the Department of Government will then consider the political implications and responses in Westminster. He will also discuss his latest research into integrity in public and private life.
Those attending will then have an opportunity to put questions to the speakers.
A working breakfast is included and will be available from 7.30am in the foyer of the Lecture Theatre Building at the Colchester Campus and presentations will start at 8am in Lecture Theatre 3. The event is due to finish at 9.15am.
