We would like to say a big 'Welcome' to all our international students. As you may know, the University has a very strong 'international' community, with approximately 40% of our students coming from outside the UK.
We hope that the time you spend with us will be both fruitful and enjoyable. For this reason, the University provides many services specifically aimed at supporting international students. The following links will take you to University webpages which offer useful advice in relation to both practical and academic-related matters for students from overseas:
The purpose of mySkills is to provide students with advice relating to their academic study; we are mindful, however, that for anyone whose first language is not English, more support may well be required. Therefore, we would advise anyone who may need extra help with improving their language skills to look at the list of courses available to international students run by the staff in the International Academy (formerly the English Language Teaching Centre).
The materials you will find here on mySkills have not been specifically written for any one category of student. Rather, they are aimed at addressing the needs of any student who may need some extra advice and guidance in relation to academic study skills. We hope that you will find them useful for your needs. Please do not hesitate to contact us with suggestions and ideas on how they might be improved.
Finally, we would like to wish you the very best of luck in all your endeavours!
