This independent study module allows students to undertake a detailed investigation into a research methodology and associated methods in preparation for their final research activity.
The module aims to enable students to develop a critical understanding of an identified research methodology and associated methods suitable for use in relation to their chosen research topic. This will prepare students to conceptualise, design and implement a project for the generation of new knowledge, applications or understanding at the forefront of their discipline.
1. Using informed judgement, select and justify a research perspective, methodology and associated methods for a chosen research topic;
2. Demonstrate detailed understanding to identify and discuss some key philosophical/theoretical assumptions that inform the chosen approach and methods;
3. Critically consider how the chosen approach will support the creation of new knowledge and evidence and the implications of this in relation to their chosen research topic.
