MSC B16024 Physiotherapy (Pre-Registration)
This module provides students with the opportunity to be proactive in identifying their current scope of practice. Reflecting this, students will develop strategies to expand knowledge and skills in their own chosen areas. Based upon these areas, students will proactively develop their current scope of practice.
To give students the opportunity to be proactive in identifying their current scope of practice.
To facilitate students in developing strategies to expand knowledge and skills in chosen areas.
1. Critically evaluate their evolving scope of practice and preparedness for qualified practice
2. Independently identify opportunities to develop scope of practice further upon qualification
3. Communicate clearly, in a well-structured manner, to synthesise how your practice has evolved and critically discuss the impact on future developments
Indicative Content
Students will be given a range of sessions they can attend to further develop core skills, and learn which knowledge and skills are required for extended roles. For example:
Palliative care
On call
Pitch side physiotherapy
Imaging for physiotherapists
Non-medical prescribing
First contact practitioners
Pilates
Sports club
Business skills
A mixture of seminars, practical and independent learning will be used to deliver this module. For specific information, please see the module timetable and module guide

Exam format definitions
- Remote, open book: Your exam will take place remotely via an online learning platform. You may refer to any physical or electronic materials during the exam.
- In-person, open book: Your exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer to any physical materials such as paper study notes or a textbook during the exam. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary,
for example, may be permitted in an otherwise closed book exam. Any exceptions will be specified by your department.
