Module description

This module develops students' holistic assessment and intervention skills for a range of patient presentations. The module will focus on the common approaches to physiotherapy led assessment and interventions, whilst highlighting the variations required when assessing different patient groups.

Module aims

1) To develop holistic assessment and intervention skills for a range of patient presentations.

2) To facilitate the learning of common approaches to physiotherapy led assessment and interventions, whilst highlighting the variations required when assessing different patient groups.

Module learning outcomes

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to:

1. Critically explore the approaches and components of physiotherapy led assessment.
2. Demonstrate an ability to undertake an assessment and provide interventions which are appropriate, safe, effective, holistic and adaptable.
3. Communicate clearly in a well-structured manner to convey complex information and ideas, adapting the message to the requirements and level of the target audience.
4. Demonstrate accurate note keeping which is congruent with legal and professional expectations.
5. Undertake an analysis of patient led assessment and interventions, relating to the biopsychosocial aspects for improving patient outcomes.
