Module description

This module is concerned with the reality of leadership practice. This involves the critical study and development of a range of leadership attitudes, beliefs and actions. These in turn underpin leadership proficiency.

A key purpose of this module, therefore, is to encourage learners to develop a strong sense of self-awareness, and of social awareness, and thus of their own potential strengths and weaknesses as leaders, regardless of setting.

Module themes include a consideration of thinking and decision-making skills, the management of information, a range of team working and interpersonal skills, and skills associated with developing personal effectiveness and credibility at work.
The module also seeks to support students in developing an approach to personal learning and development based on critical reflexivity, and awareness of context. Finally, the module examines how to present one's own evidence of leadership learning in a considered and professional manner.
