Employability encompasses not only the knowledge, understanding and skills of an Occupational Therapist, but also the attitudes and attributes that allow you to gain employment, function effectively within the role, and be able to move between jobs, thus remaining employable throughout your life. This module will provide you with the opportunity to identify and develop skills that can directly contribute to your own employability.
- You will draw on your own learning and experiences throughout the programme, drawing upon key evidence and reflections to address the consolidation of skills for practice.
- Over the final ten-week placement, you will manage your provision of occupational therapy in a specific setting.
- By the end you will be able to critically analyse and evaluate practice from multiple perspectives, self-managing.
By the end of this module, students will be expected to be able to:
- Draw upon and critically evaluate relevant knowledge from a wide range of sources to demonstrate understanding of key factors within the placement setting (PP-Manage)
- Synthesise theory and practice for effective service delivery (PP-Manage)
- Effectively manage self to respond to changing and complex situations and initiate appropriate action (PP-Manage)
- Align your skills, behaviour and knowledge to regulatory, professional and organisational standards to reflect your contribution to relevant organisations, service users and carers (Skills Portfolio & CPD evidence)
Within this module you will explore your learning throughout the programme, through personal reflection and identify strengths and areas for further development that will contribute to your continuing professional development.
The interactive nature of this module is supported by practice placements, simulation/practical skills training and small group work, tutorials which will form the basis of the learning methods within this module.
Learners will draw upon knowledge, skills and behaviours established throughout the programme to demonstrate professional skill competences for the transition from student to practitioner.
You will draw upon your placement experiences and final 10-week placement, in order to further develop your learning within this module. Preparation and debriefing workshops will be available to learners.
