Module Description

This module follows an innovative rubric which allows students to interact with and learn from practitioners in the field of macro and micro-economic policy, regulation and governance. They will be exposed to real world issues and perspectives about what needs doing to fix real world problems. The module is evaluated entirely by a piece of written work where the problem is set by the visiting practitioner. Technical solutions are invited. This can include a new framework for policy or a new piece of software.

Other information

Three or four practitioners are invited to give up to 3 lectures each (2 hours each) with the view to guide a piece of written work for students (equivalent to a term paper) that will be in the area of their expertise. The practitioner also gives a short written evaluation which is an input in the marking of the by the course moderator of the submitted course work. The lectures are accompanied with key readings and other materials.

Compulsory for MSc Computational Economics, Financial Markets and Policy.
