MA W40E12 Advanced Professional Theatre Practice

Module description

This module offers students enhanced insight into the needs of participants in practical sessionsand workshops, with an emphasis on planning activities for specific participant groups. Session planning, studio management, and health and safety are considered alongside a reflection on the professional skills and knowledge the individual student can offer as a teacher and facilitator.

Module aims

This module aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to translate their own creative practice into engaging and effective learning sessions.

Module learning outcomes

On completion of this module, successful students will be able to:

1. Identify the needs and interests of a learner or client group.
2. Select and develop suitable material for participants.
3. Plan a single session to deliver defined learning activities and goals.
4. Demonstrate the ability to model and enforce safe practice in a studio environment.
5. Identify strategies for managing individuals and groups safely and effectively in the studio.
