MA Acting (International) students may opt to write a 12,000 word dissertation exploring through research and critical enquiry a topic related to acting technique or process, or to methods and theories of actor training.
1. To allow the student to initiate and pursue a substantial independent project
2. To enable the student to reflect critically and creatively on a range of skills and knowledge appropriate to the training and preparation of the actor
Students will be able to demonstrate:
1. The ability to plan and complete a substantial independent project, with limited tutorial guidance
2. A detailed and critical understanding of the chosen material, including its original cultural and intellectual context, and the responses of theorists and practitioners to it
3. Comprehensiveness and discrimination in the gathering, editing and presentation of research materials
4. Clarity in the communication of the results of research and critical inquiry
