BA W494 Acting and Physical Theatre
Students will use their physical skills on an existing play. They will experience the different challenges involved in bringing their creativity and athleticism to a more structured piece of writing.
The aims of the module are:
To develop students' ability to experience and analyse an existing play
To provide students with an opportunity to use physical theatre skills to create and enhance character
To provide opportunities for the students to create work within the structures of a given text with a director
On completion of this module the student should be able to:
Understand and use the structure of a text to create scenic momentum in a performance
Demonstrate an ability to create a physical theatre version of a pre-existing text
Demonstrate application of research to the process
Demonstrate a professional standard of physical theatre performance
Work as a professional member of a performance ensemble

- In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary,
for example, may be permitted in an otherwise closed book exam. Any exceptions will be specified by your department.
