BA DKAS Stage and Production Management
This module provides an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and skills in a professional working environment and to reflect critically and analytically on their experiences to inform their future employment aspirations.
Placement
In discussion with you, your tutor will suggest different styles of placements appropriate to your individual strengths.
NB: on occasions staff may decide to substitute a placement for further project/productions work where it is felt that the student's skills require further enhancing before being sent into a professional environment.
The aims of the module are:
1. To give students experience of working in a professional Stage Management environment.
2. To give students experience of the demands of working for an employer under professional working conditions.
3. To allow students to gain a greater understanding of a range of professional roles in a given working environment, and their relationships and responsibilities to each other.
4. To extend skills and knowledge by using a different or more specialist range of equipment and techniques.
5. Give students the opportunity to observe and participate in different working methods and processes.
6. Give students the opportunity to meet and mix with professional practitioners, and build contacts for the future.
7. To prepare students for employment.

Assessment is based on the ability to achieve the learning outcomes of the module related to the overall criteria contained in the Year Three Assessment Form and Grading Descriptors. Summative assessment is undertaken at the end of the term in which the module is taken and marks issued to students on the Assesment Form together with written tutor comments.
Exam format definitions
- Remote, open book: Your exam will take place remotely via an online learning platform. You may refer to any physical or electronic materials during the exam.
- In-person, open book: Your exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer to any physical materials such as paper study notes or a textbook during the exam. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary,
for example, may be permitted in an otherwise closed book exam. Any exceptions will be specified by your department.
