The aims of this module are:
- To provide students with the necessary professional preparation and skills to launch their acting careers
- To develop awareness of the professional and creative relationships between actor, writer and director and create opportunities for students to experience a professional practice that mirrors conditions in the contemporary industry they are about to enter
- To develop students’ understanding of their industry
- To provide students with a platform to make professional contacts
By the end of this module, students will be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to produce:
- a professional CV
- effective letters of introduction to theatre, film, television and voice-over agents, directors and casting directors
- professional audition speeches
- a good technique for television and film interviews, including sight-reading skills
- a professional portfolio; and
- the ability to understand and apply critical self-assessment in order to develop and improve performance and employability

Additional coursework information
The module assessment will be based on students’ ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the learning outcomes. Continuous assessment of all work will be conducted by the Head of BA Acting, guest lecturers and industry professionals. A summative mark for the module will be given at the end of Term three. The showcase performance will not be formally assessed.
