Voice
You will learn how to make accurate use of the voice coach through the support you receive for your roles in
production work. You will be given opportunities to practice changing vocal quality for the purpose of dramatic
characterisation. You will work on a variety of accents and vocal requirements for different performance spaces
and for your audition pieces.
Movement
The third year classes will be a mix of specifically set projects according to the needs of the particular cohort
and/or movement for the actor in performance. Movement in the third year will focus on movement for the
performing actor, building on students' previously acquired absorption and internalisation of the principles and
practice of the actor's movement work
Music and Singing
With guidance from tutors you will work on developing a personal repertoire of appropriate songs for your vocal
ability. You will use your expanded sense of vocal identity to apply self-regulated and purpose-designed warmups. The module contains opportunities for students to attend master classes to prepare for professional
auditions.
To provide students with the means to
- select personal warm-ups appropriate to specific individual needs (physical, mental and spiritual) and technical skills (voice, movement, music and singing)
- develop and maintain an aligned an energised body that is physically and technically able to meet the challenges of a range of performance styles
- apply learned skills techniques both as performer and in self-created work.
- develop a varied repertoire of suitable audition songs that will enhance their employability in the profession
On successful completion of the module, students will develop:
For Voice:

For Movement:
1. Ability to assume full responsibility for development of own movement work

For Music and Singing:
1. Technical ability – Quality of voice (clarity of sound, avoiding constriction)
2. Pitch (maintaining intonation throughout song)
3. Harmony and Listening Skills (support, voice care, breath control)
4. Communication (intelligibility and emotional contact

Learning also takes place in workshops, tutorials and whilst students are being coached for performance.
Verbal feedback is given throughout in class and rehearsal.
Students receive termly formative assessment in written reports with tutors' comments
Students will be expected to practice their voice, movement and music & singing skills in independent study.

Additional coursework information
Continuous assessment through observation of contribution to class work and application of skills to performances. Assessment is based on performance work and on the process of achieving public performance.
Voice and dance/ movement will be assessed based on all three terms. Music will be assessed based on terms one and two, when the bulk of the work is done.
