Introduction to notions of stylised theatre
Introduction to the work of Vsevolad Meyerhold and/or Michael Chekhov
Application of Meyerhold's/Chekhov's ideas and methods to physical theatre
To develop students’ understanding of stylised theatre as a reaction to naturalism.
To develop critical awareness of Meyerhold approaches to acting and pre-acting.
To examine the application of theories of biomechanics to acting and pre-acting.
On completion of this module the student should be able to:
Apply knowledge and understanding of biomechanics to professional
Performance
Demonstrate professional competence in ensemble communication
Reflect and analyse in detail individual and group performance
Continuous assessment through classwork, rehearsal , solo and ensemble public performances
Practical classes, independent study, seminar, screenings, rehearsal.
