BA DKAS Stage and Production Management
The Industry in Context 2 module will enable students to:
Demonstrate critical and evaluative skills both in oral and written terms
Develop a further understanding of research methodologies
Prepare and submit research projects suitable for their future progression as higher education students and as theatre practitioners
Present structured arguments and express ideas
Become familiar with different forms of professional communication
The aims of this module are to:
Enhance the students' understanding of the industry they have chosen as their future career pathway
To develop the students' understanding of the industry and its working as a whole
To develop further the students' understanding of different methods and processes that enables them to:
research effectively;
develop an enquiring mind;
think analytically;
communicate ideas
Further develop methods of problem solving, negotiation, and personal management
Further develop the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
On completion of the module students will have an understanding of:
The industry as a whole and the opportunities it presents for the students' chosen career pathway
Support the student professional development and encourage networking and connection with the industry

Students are expected to make time available for independent study; this should be used for research, class preparation and for preparing/producing assignments.
Formative and summative assessment will be proided through all stages of the course of study in the form of seminar discussion, tutor comments, and feedback on cover sheets for all written work returned.

Assessment is based on the ability to achieve the learning outcomes of the module related to the overall criteria contained in the Year Two Assessment Form and Grading Descriptors. Summative assessment is undertaken at the end of the term in which the module is taken and marks issued to students on the Assessment Form together with written tutor comments.
Students must pass both elements of assessment to pass the module.
Exam format definitions
- Remote, open book: Your exam will take place remotely via an online learning platform. You may refer to any physical or electronic materials during the exam.
- In-person, open book: Your exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer to any physical materials such as paper study notes or a textbook during the exam. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary,
for example, may be permitted in an otherwise closed book exam. Any exceptions will be specified by your department.
