This dissertation module is the culmination of your Masters programme, where you apply the knowledge gained on your course to produce an extended independent piece of work.
Students generate an original idea, analyse literature and current knowledge and produce a coherent argument that shows their ability to relate theory to practice. The dissertation/research project will help students develop vital skills for the workplace, as well as the ability to analyse real problems through an academic lens. Students are assigned a supervisor for the duration of their project.
The aims of this module are:
- To provide the ability to undertake managerial relevant research and a range of research skills and methods appropriate to that research.
- To provide an array of analytical and synthetic thinking skills in the field of management theory
- To provide transferable skills related to the capacity for independent research, the analysis of both financial and textual data, and group work and public presentations.
By the end of this module students will be expected to be able to:
- Identify, plan and undertake a substantial piece of independent research
- Exercise a range of research skills and methods in order to produce relevant management research.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of specific areas in which the student has chosen to specialise.
- Demonstrate analytical and synthetic thinking skills in relation to management theories.
