Module description

Corporate and Investment banking includes a heterogeneous set of activities. This module aims at analysing the major corporate and investment banking services, related to mergers and acquisitions, capital markets services (as private equity, venture capital, structure financial products and initial public offerings) and credit market services (as securitization and non-performing loans management).

Module aims

The aims of this module are:



  • The ability of offering corporate and investment banking services (from the bank standpoint).

  • Key analytical skills for making corporate financial decision in practice (from the firm standpoint).

  • An understanding of the main investment and corporate banking services.

  • An awareness of the critical issues in M and As and complex financial products


Module learning outcomes

By the end of this module, students will be expected to be able to:



  1. Have a general overview about main investment and corporate banking techniques.

  2. Be able to accurately evaluate listed and non-listed companies.

  3. Have a sound understanding of investment banking services related to M&A.

  4. Understand the main investment services related to capital markets, as private equity, venture capital, structure financial products and initial public offerings.

  5. Comprehend complex financial products (structured finance) and deals (as securitization and credit derivatives).

  6. Be familiar with the evaluation and management of non-performing loans.

This module will be delivered via:

  • One 2-hour lecture per week.
  • One 1-hour seminar per week.
