Module Description

Issues of sustainability are on everybody's; mind this module explores new developments in management in an era of increasing ecological concern. The intertwined environmental crises we now face on a global level point to a need for significant changes in the way we manage our economies. On this module, we will be exploring the sustainability crisis of modern economies, with particular focus on the contested role of corporations. A range of new modes of governance have emerged which aim to address the sustainability crisis, structuring the relationship between corporations, governments and civil society actors in innovative ways. This module will review these new modes of governance, assessing their potential contribution to a more sustainable future. We will review a range of different theories that help us to think about these new governance modes, while making reference to, and discussing in detail, a number of different practical examples and case studies.
