Brand Management
In the increasingly complex and competitive environment in which
the University of Essex operates, a consistent and coherent brand is
a necessity in order to successfully communicate to our audiences.
A brand goes beyond use of a logo; it is shorthand for the
values, vision and qualities that make the University of Essex
distinctive. It is about the recognition and connection people have
of and with our University through their perceptions and experience
of how we perform and what we stand for.
The interactions between our University and our stakeholders are
crucial in managing our University brand and therefore all our staff
and students have an important role to play as brand ambassadors.
The brand is articulated in a number of ways including
brand values
(eg the way we talk about the brand) and visual identity (eg logo,
colours, design). A
brand toolkit has been developed to help everyone to articulate
the brand in a meaningful way and ultimately build a stronger brand
for the University of Essex.
