Introduction
The London 2012 Olympics was the biggest sporting event to be held in the
UK. Situated just 45 minutes from the main Olympic site, the University of
Essex offers some of the most advanced sporting facilities in the county and
is at the forefront of performance research. Our academics and staff were involved in research and educational initiatives linked to London 2012 plus events to promote the sporting legacy.

Building a sporting legacy
Nurturing up and coming sporting talent is something Essex has a proven track
record in - from the Future Stars Camp for Olympic and Paralympics hopefuls and

lifestyle, to our successful Sports Bursary scheme, allowing students to combine
academic and sporting achievements.
