Introduction
The London 2012 Olympics is the biggest sporting event to be held in the
UK. Situated just 45 minutes form the main Olympic site, the University of
Essex offers some of the most advanced sporting facilities in the county and
is at the forefront of performance research.
Expert advice and world-class facilities
The University of Essex is a designated London 2012 Olympic Training Camp. As
part of the Colchester Partnership for London 2012, we offer a unique
combination of world-class sports sciences research, support and top quality
facilities all less than an hour from the main Olympic park.
Our Human Performance Unit
understands the pressures and demands of elite sports and works with leading
athletes to improve performance, whilst the
Centre
for Sports and Exercise is one of the leading academic institutions for
sports science research in the UK.

Building a sporting legacy
Nurturing up and coming sporting talent is something Essex has a proven track
record in - from the Future Stars Camp for Olympic and Paralympics hopefuls and

academic and sporting achievements.
