Undergraduate Degrees
The Department of Language and Linguistics at Essex is
one of
the largest departments of its kind in the UK and has over 20 specialist teaching and
research staff in English/Linguistics who include some of the world’s leading
researchers in their field (see departmental profile). This means we are able to
offer you a wide range of high quality degree programs with a flexible structure
which enables you to choose between dozens of different modules, so you’re sure
to find lots of things that interest you. Our
Modern Languages courses allow you to study up to four languages, also in combination with
other subjects. All our language teaching staff are language specialists, and
most are native speakers of the language they teach. Feedback from our students (see
student surveys) tells us that they really love the flexibility of our programs
and the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, and really enjoy their time at
Essex (see student profiles). Our courses are designed to help you acquire a
wide range of employability skills which will enhance your career prospects (see
skills and careers).
The courses we run are all offered on the Colchester campus. For more
