Advice
and
Help for Students
What to do if you have problems
It depends on who you are, and what kind of problem you have.
Academic Problems
If your problem is academic, you should talk first of all to the class
teacher, then to the person who is in charge of the module or course, then to
your Scheme Director (the person in charge of your degree scheme).
If none of them can deal with the problem to your satisfaction, your next point
of call should be the
Head of Department.
If you are a Research Student, you should first of all discuss things with
your Supervisor. If this does not help, you could talk to one of the people on
your research committee, or to the
Graduate Research Coordinator
Personal Problems
If you have personal problems, you should feel free to discuss them with any
member of staff you feel comfortable with (that is, you should think of every
member of staff as a potential advisor).
In case you don't know who you want to talk to, the Department has an advising
team. Add @essex.ac.uk to form full e-mail address.

To find out which one is available at any given time, the best thing is to see
the
Undergraduate Administrator.
