| Biography | Angela Livingstone came to Essex in 1966 and retired from teaching in 1997. She is mainly interested in Russian poetry, especially that of the twentieth century, and has also done research in German literature. She has published articles on and translations of Pasternak, Tsvetaeva and Platonov, as well as a number of books, including: Pasternak (1969, with Donald Davie); Lou Andreas-Salomé (1984); Pasternak on Art and Creativity (1985); Pasternak: Doctor Zhivago (1989); Art in the Light of Conscience: Eight Essays on Poetry by Marina Tsvetaeva (1992, re-published 2010); Tsvetaeva, The Ratcatcher (1999); A Hundred Years of Andrei Platonov (vol. I, 2001, vol II, 2002); The Marsh of Gold: Pasternak (2008); Marina Tsvetaeva, 'Phaedra', a Drama in Verse, Translated and Introduced, with 'New Year's Letter' and Other Long Poems (2012). |
