Centre for Theatre Studies: Summer School 2009
The 2009 summer school was held in conjunction with
Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds. In June the Centre's students
performed alongside professional actors at the Theatre Royal in a world
premiere of The Massacre by Elizabeth Inchbald. It was
followed by a new short play by
Jonathan
Lichtenstein, the Centre's director. His play is a contemporary
response to The Massacre and was performed by the Centre's
students and directed by Robert Price, actor and teacher at RADA.
The collaboration with the Regency theatre in Bury was initiated by
Dr Elizabeth Kuti, a
playwright and lecturer in the Department. She has created a new
third-year course, Restoring the Repertoire, which will be run with the
participation of the Theatre Royal.
