Our undergraduate courses in creative writing offer a unique exploration of the practice and theory of being a writer by embracing both
familiar Anglo-American approaches to composition with a range of other influential schools, from the study of traditional rhetoric to the
innovative experimental practices of French collective Oulipo.
Established writers and leading literature specialists help you to deepen your knowledge of literary tradition by examining an extensive
variety of styles, modes, and genres, which in turn allows you to develop your practical skills of expression and invention.
Planned reading and writing exercises expand your techniques as well as your ability to critically judge your own work.
You can study creative writing as a single honours degree or in combination with film studies as a joint-honours degree. Courses are three years
of full-time study and can also be taken as a four-year option including a year of study abroad.
