Research staff - policy library

Key national and international policy documents for Research Staff are listed below.

Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers sets out the expectations and responsibilities of researchers, their managers, employers and funders. You can either download your copy of the Concordat, or read Vitae's briefing for research staff (PDF), which summarises the main points of the Concordat and how they might relate to life as a researcher.

The European Charter for Researchers (PDF) addresses researchers in the European Union at all stages of their career, and sets out the rights and responsibilities of researchers and their managers, recognising the value of mobility as enhancing researcher development.

Researcher development framework (RDF) for the UK has been created as a tool for planning, promoting and supporting the personal, professional and career development of researchers in higher education.  Consultation is still taking place on the final version of the framework. The RDF will not be promoted directly to researchers in 2010; an online CPD tool and associated resources are in development.
